About Us

ZeroMils is a term of both science and art, used in the military to describe a state of perfection that accounts for accuracy and effectiveness. Once attained, ZeroMils allows  you to achieve maximum impact on a target.

Our mission as social impact consultants to corporations and nonprofit organizations is to create Military Thriving cultures and communities. Our vision is to use our experiences to make our history every Veteran’s and Military Spouse’s future—with a focus on small business owners like us.

We are intentional in our efforts to serve alongside organizations and leaders who focus on what we know to be true:  that although Veterans and their families face unique challenges, the vast majority of us overcome them and thrive as a result of our service and not in spite of it.

Our Founders

Kevin Schmiegel
CEO

Kevin Schmiegel is CEO at ZeroMils. A retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, Kevin is a mission-focused leader with a proven track record for rapidly scaling nonprofits and a reputation for delivering significant results. Kevin founded Hiring Our Heroes at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and was CEO of two other national nonprofits. Raising $100 million for these causes over a decade, Kevin and his teams have impacted millions of Americans, in and out of uniform. He is a proud husband to Laura and a father of five.

Paul Cucinotta
President & COO

Paul Cucinotta is President & Chief Operating Officer at ZeroMils. He is a retired Marine Corps colonel, and highly accomplished leader, specializing in diverse and complex organizations. Paul most recently served as the COO and CFO of a nationally recognized military and first responder non-profit, where he scaled and streamlined operations. When not tackling complex challenges, you can find Paul on the beach with his wife Beth, and growing family, in Emerald Isle, NC.

An Army spouse, Beth has been a dedicated and vocal advocate for military spouses in the workplace specifically while stationed overseas. Recognized as a subject matter expert she has contributed to panel discussions, authored op-eds, and been called on to support various members of Congress who support military spouse initiatives. Beth encountered challenges with the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) in 2013 when a PCS to Germany ended her career and put her professional development and family’s financial security at risk. Seeing this as a needless barrier, she has worked tirelessly to clarify what the SOFA is and is not and how it should not be a barrier to a military spouse’s ability to work while overseas. Currently at Amazon, Beth is growing her career as a Technical Business Manager. Outside of her day job, she is an alumnus of the Bush Institute Stand-To Veteran leadership program, an advisor to MilitarySpouseJobs.org and the Blue Star Families Research and Polic team, is the Chairwoman of the board for the Military Spouse Chamber of Commerce and sits on several DoD and White House working groups focused on reducing employment challenges.

Michael Haire is an HR Business Partner and serves as the Enterprise Vice President of the Wells Fargo Veterans Connection Employee Resource Network. The Wells Fargo Veterans Connection ERN is a network of 25 US and internationally based chapters with over 10,000 veteran and ally members. As Enterprise Vice President and in partnership with the ERN President and leadership team, he leads the ERN’s efforts to provide its members unique opportunities to support, advocate for, and celebrate Veterans and Military-affiliated employees, and participate in Enterprise initiatives that directly support Veteran and Military-affiliated employees via networking, mentorship, hiring and outreach.

Mike retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2017 after 27 years of service, as both an enlisted and commissioned Airman, in the Security Forces, Acquisition and Financial Management career fields. He joined Wells Fargo in 2018 and has held several roles across the Human Resources function. In his current role, he provides strategic HR consultation to senior business leaders in Control Management and the Chief Administrative Office on key workforce challenges and initiatives, and develops HR solutions including talent planning and organizational design & effectiveness.

A native of St Louis, Missouri, Mike currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife and son. His daughter is a student at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Mike holds a master’s degree in organizational management from Wayland Baptist University.

Chris Heath is an Associate Director for Pratt and Whitney, currently working as the Test Engineering Chief for the Product Delivery Center (PDC) aircraft engine and auxiliary power unit (APU) programs. His primary responsibilities include leading an organization of engineers from three technical disciplines overseeing production testing, facility qualifications and support for aftermarket and sustainment testing around the world.

He also currently serves as the Global Enterprise Chair for the RTX VETS Employee Resource Group (ERG) of over 30,000 service members, veterans, family members, and supporters. He is responsible to the RTX Board of Directors and CHRO for establishing and directing strategic initiatives across the RTX enterprise in support of the ERG’s mission and vision including military spouse and family advocacy, policy and governance, talent acquisition, employee engagement, professional development, and development of strategic public and private sector partnerships.

Chris joined Pratt and Whitney in 2017 after spending 10+ years in the U.S. Marine Corps on the F/A-18 and F-35 aircraft platforms in support of OIF/OEF/Maritime operations. He has continued to have increasing levels of scope and responsibilities over the last 18+ years in the A&D industry leading teams in engineering, quality, production, aftermarket operations, and field operations.

He grew up in Mesa, Arizona and currently resides in Connecticut with his two boys, ages 12 and 13. He holds a master’s degree in engineering management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics, and an associate degree in Criminal Justice. His passions include studying public policy and forging an integrated community of leaders across the public, private, and government sectors in the Armed Services community.
